Additional info: Crashed flying a Supermarine Spitfire V W3628. Dunsop Bridge area. Active military service in Poland from 29th January 1933. Born 30th September 1913. Roman Catholic. Listed as Married.Parents Jan and Stefania Nee Pitala. Took part in the 1939 September campaign in Poland with the Polish Air Force Training School at Deblin from 01.09.2939 to 18.09.1939. when taken prisoner of war by the former Red Army. Escaped from imprisonment n 20-09-1939 to Lwow. On 17.12.1939 he crossed the Polish -Hungarian frontier. Then interned at a civilian camp at Gyongyos. Issuesd with a Polish passport on 17.01.1940 and made his way to France. Arrived on 19.01.1940 where he joined the Polish Air Force under French command. Posted to Polish Air Force Training Centre at Lyon. On the capitulation of France in June 1940 was evacuated to the United Kingdom and arrived on 01.07.1940. On formation of the Polish Air Force under British Command he joined the Force with effect from 05.08.1940.
