Additional Info: Son of Thomas and Emma (Nee Cook) Married St Mary Church, Whalley 1898. Husband of Mary Winifred Harris (Nee Lord) of 1, Bridge End, Billington. Married Blackburn 1929. Private William Thomas died of his wounds whilst serving with the Forces in France. Only a few days before Mrs Harris had received a short letter from her husband dated July 14th in which he stated that all was well with him. William was a native of Whalley and in his earlier years worked at the Barrow Printworks. Before he joined the Forces he was employed at Heysham Docks. Associated with the Church of English Martrys, he was a member of the St John's Ambulance Brigade for several years.
